Beaufort West Solar Energy Facility (Pty) Ltd propose the construction of a new private access road to connect the authorised Beaufort West Solar PV Energy Facility (SEF) to the R361 public road, located approximately 5 Km east of the access point. The road will facilitate access for construction, operational, and maintenance activities at the SEF site.
The 8-meter-wide gravel road will be situated within a 12-meter-wide servitude on privately owned agricultural land, specifically on Portion 3 and the Remainder of Farm Oude Volks Kraal No. 164. It will follow an existing two-track farm road and informal farm paths before connecting to the SEF's internal road network.
The project includes the establishment of two security guard huts - one permanent and one-temporary - along with a 1-hectare temporary laydown area for construction material storage and the site camp. The access road will cross non-perennial drainage features and Karoo shrubland and will remain clear of vegetation only to the extent necessary for vehicular access. Minor adjustments to the alignment may be made if required, based on environmental sensitivities identified through specialist input.
