SRK Consulting US President and resource geologist Ben Parsons estimates the amount of new projects and technical reports being published on the TSX is over 1,000 on an annual basis — but the firm has noted companies are more controlled with their capital deployment than they were during mining’s last boom cycle, which peaked around 2011.
“What we’re starting to understand from our discussions with drillers and contractors, is there is a definite uptick in the amount of activity in the industry again in the consulting environment,” Parsons said. “There’s definitely been a focus on M&A activity, with the re-balancing of the sheet.”
