SRK Undertakes a Community Support and Child-Care Program

In May 2023, SRK celebrated the opening of the Kunming office (the provincial capital of Yunnan Province), which is the third SRK establishment in mainland China. In a continued effort to demonstrate social responsibility, SRK China has been encouraging staff to be more actively involved in public support and charity programs.

With the assistance of its local employees and its regional non-government organisation (NGO), Longjie Complete Primary School was the first school SRK had the privilege to work together with. The school is located in Niujie Town, Midu County, Yunnan Province, which is an alpine region inhabited by the Yi ethnic group. The school has 135 students, most of whom are boarders. Their parents work in cities far away from their homes and can usually only go back to their families once a year.

School visit and donation

SRK team members visited the school in late 2023 to help with the donation process.
The school is located in a very remote mountain area about 4 hours away from the nearest city. The roads are in poor condition and debris flows occur frequently in the rainy season.

Once there, the SRK team had a discussion with the local NGO and the headmaster of the school, focusing on the school’s history, outstanding issues to be addressed and plans for future support.

SRK China's Bob Song and Lori Zhou helped spearhead the project.

A one-time act of kindness is always appreciated, but perseverance is what we hope to achieve. Our goal is to help elevate their school experience and encourage them to thrive in their studies for a brighter future', said Bob.

The team are currently working on the second phase of the program which will take place mid-2024.
