Sasol Oil (Pty) Ltd and Prax South Africa (Pty) Ltd intend to lodge an application for the transfer of their AEL (Licence No. AEL023/S3) in terms of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act 39 of 2004 (NEM: AQA) with eThekwini Municipality. The current AEL was authorised in respect of the following listed activity: Category 2 (Petroleum Industry) – Subcategory 2.4: Storage and handling of Petroleum Products.
The current AEL for the Natcos Prospecton facility was formerly issued to Total Energies and Sasol Oil as shareholders in Natref’s Durban Operations. Following Prax's acquisition of Total Energies’ stake at Natref, this license is now required to reflect Prax South Africa (Pty) Ltd as the second shareholder, and Total Energies to be removed.
As per Section 44 of the NEM: AQA, a transfer of the existing AEL is required. SRK Consulting (SRK), has been appointed to undertake the Public Participation Process for the AEL transfer.
