SRK Consulting was engaged to prepare an NI 43-101 Technical Report for Mandalay Resources' Costerfield gold/antimony mine.
The Costerfield mine, located in central Victoria, is Australia’s only antimony mine currently in production. Acting as Qualified Persons (QPs) for all environmental, geological, engineering and metallurgical chapters, SRK worked closely with Mandalay staff reviewing all technical elements of the Report. SRK conducted the appropriate sites visits for all QPs, including active work areas underground to review procedures. The work resulted in Proven and Probable Reserves of 604kt @ 8.7g/t Au and 1.8% Sb for 168kOz of Au and 11.1kt of Sb.
Outcomes:
• Technical support and validation of all Resource and Reserves
• Consent to act as Qualified Persons for all elements of the Project
• Compilation of the NI 43-101 Technical Report
Generation of a 3D geological and mineral resource model. The Resource was reported in accordance with JORC (2012)
Prepared NI 43-101 report and mine planning studies, including pit optimization and design.
Designed and optimised drill hole locations, lengths, and orientations to maximise resources.
Provided multidisciplinary technical reports for the bankable feasibility study.
Despite major improvements over the past several decades in computer methods for analyzing & synthesizing exploration & site investigation geological data for engineering purposes, which should have decreased project risk, unexpected failures & construction problems still occur.L
