The growth of professional teams and the strengthening of ties with academic institutions have been an important part of SRK’s evolution in Argentina. With more than 15 years of presence in the country and offices in Buenos Aires, Mendoza, and Salta, SRK has fostered opportunities for innovation that encourage collaboration between academia and industry.
Reflecting this journey, SRK has established its fourth office in Argentina in the province of San Luis. Located within the Knowledge Industry Park of the University of La Punta, the office represents the consolidation of a workplace that has grown alongside the development of local talent and collaboration with projects across different regions of the country.
Today, the San Luis team consists of seven professionals and continues to expand. From this office, the team contributes to both metallic and non-metallic mining projects, working closely with clients and SRK teams throughout Argentina and internationally.
Regarding the importance of this office in strengthening relationships with universities, Diego Marrero, Principal Mining Engineer, commented:
SRK maintains strong ties with the academic and scientific community in Argentina. Many of our professionals actively participate in research, development, and publication activities, contributing to knowledge exchange between industry and universities.
The opening of this office in San Luis is a natural extension of that relationship. The province has a long tradition of educating mining professionals and is home to academic institutions that have contributed for many years to the development of talent for the industry.
For SRK, establishing a presence in San Luis represents an opportunity to further strengthen this relationship, engage even more closely with universities, and make a meaningful contribution to the development of new professionals, technical capabilities, and opportunities for those beginning their careers in mining.”
The new office will allow SRK to expand this collaboration through practical initiatives, including support for academic infrastructure and equipment improvements, as well as the development of internship programs for university students. These initiatives aim to support students’ education, provide exposure to real industry projects, and identify emerging talent that may join SRK’s teams in the future.
Speaking about the growth and consolidation of the San Luis team, Diego Braüer, Senior Mining Engineer, noted:
The opening of this office is the result of a collective effort and the sustained work of a team that has grown in experience, capabilities, and responsibilities. This growth is supported by a way of working focused on delivering quality outcomes for our clients and building long-term relationships based on trust.
It also reflects a culture in which every team member takes an active role, contributes their experience, and supports the development of others. At SRK San Luis, we understand that growth depends on this shared responsibility and on the ability to work in an integrated way.
SRK continually presents us with new challenges, which require us to keep learning, adopting new tools, and strengthening our capabilities to meet the needs of an industry that is constantly evolving."
The consolidation of this office reinforces SRK’s commitment to talent development, collaboration with academic institutions, and the strengthening of technical capabilities that contribute to the sustainable growth of the industry and the communities where it operates.
