SRK Consulting, an independent international consulting firm specializing in earth and water resources, proudly celebrates the 20th anniversary of its presence in Brazil. Over the past two decades, SRK Brazil has established itself as a benchmark in the industry, standing out for its ability to tackle complex challenges, adapt to changing contexts, and deliver strategic and sustainable solutions. This milestone reflects not only the company’s technical commitment but also an organizational culture rooted in leadership, collaboration, and excellence.

Reflecting on this journey, Thiago Toussaint, managing director of SRK Brazil, commented:

These 20 years have been marked by exceptional moments and achievements, but also by significant challenges. Some of these were uncomfortable and difficult to overcome, but it is precisely those challenges that make this celebration even more special. SRK Brazil has grown remarkably, especially in the last five years. I vividly recall a pivotal moment in December 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, when we had to make critical decisions with limited information. It was an intense process, but we took the risk, and that decision transformed our trajectory. We grew from a team of 16 professionals to over 60, solidifying ourselves as a strong organization prepared for the future."

Andy Barrett, former chair of SRK Global and SRK North America, also highlighted:

When SRK Brazil was founded in 2005, SRK already had offices in North America, South America, Europe, and Australia, employing fewer than 500 people compared to the 1,800 we are today. From the beginning, we recognized the potential of the Brazilian market, having previously worked in the country from other offices. Our first clients included companies such as Votorantim, CVRD (now Vale), ProMinas, Falconbridge, Petrobras, and Pará Pigmentos. The strong position SRK Brazil holds today is the result of the commitment and dedication of many individuals. If we remain true to our founding principles—an empowering environment, capable consultants, strong client relationships, and technical excellence—our success will continue to be assured”.

Esteban Hormazábal, managing director of SRK Chile, corporate consultant (rock mechanics and tunneling services), and regional coordinator for Latin America, expressed:

It is a source of pride to celebrate SRK Brazil’s 20th anniversary, a milestone that shows how quickly time passes when we enjoy our work and face intellectual challenges every day. SRK is a company that offers opportunities, and it is up to us to seize them. From the first LATAM Summit in Belo Horizonte in 2015 to workshops on topics such as tailings, numerical modeling, hydrogeology, and mine closure, we have strengthened regional integration. Now is the time to further foster collaboration between offices, promote secondments, and keep the SRK family united. Congratulations to SRK Brazil on this great achievement!"

Luiz Henrique Gomes, administrative and financial director of SRK Brazil since 2008, stated:

Being part of SRK Brazil means more than finding technical solutions; it involves transforming realities and elevating teams to a new level. This responsibility challenges us daily to be more than specialists: it demands that we be thought leaders, strategists, and problem solvers. Our resilience has been key to overcoming obstacles, not as endpoints but as starting points to innovate and make a difference. What truly sets us apart is not just our technical expertise but our ability to listen, deeply understand problems, and build solutions that inspire trust and deliver sustainable, long-term results”.

As part of this celebration, SRK Brazil expressed its gratitude to individuals who have made exceptional contributions over the years. Among them are Tim McGurk (CEO of SRK Global), Alejo Sfriso (chair of SRK Global), Andy Barrett (former chair of SRK Global and SRK North America), Darrel Sandison (chief financial officer), Jeff Parshley (former chair of SRK Global), Rob Bowell (corporate consultant, geochemistry, SRK Cardiff, UK), Lúcia Ribeiro (legal counsel), and Luiz Henrique Gomes (administrative and financial director, SRK Brazil).

Finally, SRK reaffirms its commitment to technological innovation and the adaptation of its services to meet the sustainable solutions needs of its clients. The company will continue to promote the professional development of its team through training and mentorship, which are fundamental pillars of its business model. As part of a global network of experts, SRK Brazil will continue collaborating with colleagues worldwide to deliver comprehensive, high-impact solutions.
