A total of 12 universities throughout the country and Geoscience Australia have been given free access to the critically acclaimed course ‘Practical Geocommunication’.

The course access is being sponsored by SRK Australia and was created by Geologize, a global and widely endorsed training service for scholars and industry professionals.

CEO and Director at Geologize, Dr Haydon Mort is an expert in Earth Science communication and created ‘Practical Geocommunication’ with an aim to boost public interest in technical subjects such as geoscience.

This comprehensive, on-demand program helps professionals hone their communication skills and thereby increase understanding of their discipline within non-technical as well as technical audiences. It also provides helpful tools for geology and mining specialists at any level wishing to improve their public speaking skills.

SRK's sponsorship will help accelerate regional and global awareness of the geosciences as a subject by providing key communication training to staff and students across Australia" Dr Mort said.

To progress global awareness, Geologize and SRK plan to extend the free licence to universities in another international SRK region.

SRK Australia Managing Director, Carl Murray believes that this partnership will help drive the communication effort needed to build public understanding regarding what geology is and why it is essential to our everyday lives.

The sponsorship will cover the entire course fee for 12 Australian universities and Geoscience Australia. The universities with access are Australian National University, Flinders University, Griffith University, James Cook University, Macquarie University, University of Newcastle, RMIT University, University of Sydney, University of Tasmania, UNSW, UWA, University of Wollongong.
