About Dr. Yonglian Sun
Yonglian is a Director of SRK Global, a Managing Director of SRK China and a corporate consultant. He has a PhD in Mining Engineering, a joint program between China University of Mining and Technology and West Virginia
University in USA. He was also a Postdoctoral Fellow with the University of Wollongong, Australia.
Yonglian has over 28 years’ experience in geotechnical and mining engineering and project evaluation across five continents. He has extensive international experience in evaluating mining projects as well as in site
investigation, analysis and modelling of geotechnical issues in open pits, underground mines, and civil tunnels.
Prior to joining SRK, Yonglian conducted teaching and research at universities in China, the US, and Australia between 1987-1996. He worked in various mining consulting firms including Klohn Crippen in Vancouver and
Pells Sullivan Meynink in Sydney. He also served in two of the largest open pit mines in the world for Southern Peru Copper Corporation in Peru.
Yonglian joined SRK Australasia in Sydney in October 2004 and relocated to Beijing to establish SRK China from scratch in February 2005. SRK China now has two offices and employs around 30 consultants.
In recent years, Yonglian has coordinated and led dozens of technical due diligence projects, most of which have been successfully listed in the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited. Yonglian was also invited to co-chair
one session on ‘The China Factor: Commodity Prices and the Mining Finance Alternative’ during the 2016 PDAC Mining Convention in Toronto. Yonglian was also invited to give public speeches on various topics to Hong
Kong Mines and Money in March 2015, the Singapore Stock Exchange in October 2014, the Association of Banks in Singapore in October 2014; and to the Shanghai Mining Exchange in September 2013.
