We are proud to announce that Dr. David Machuca-Mory received an award at the biennial conference of the Applications of Computers and Operations Research in the Mineral Industry. APCOM promotes the development and advancement of innovative mining-related technologies and methodologies, and David’s award recognizes his contributions to these fields.
David is a senior consultant at the SRK Toronto office and has over nine years of experience in applying geostatistical methods to 3D geological and resource modelling for mineral deposits and petroleum reservoirs. He specializes in constructing and auditing mineral resource models and reports and has provided consulting services to companies in Africa and North, South, and Central America.
“The SRK Ontario mineral resource group that David belongs to provides innovative, value-adding solutions to international clients,” said SRK Principal Resource Geologist Glen Cole. “David enhances our services with his broad experience in geostatistics, statistics, resource evaluation, and computer programming.”
Since completing his doctorate at the University of Alberta and working as a researcher at McGill University, David has continued to study and develop advanced geostatistical methodologies and applications. His research work has resulted in over 15 peer-reviewed publications for journals and conferences, including the APCOM event.
This ongoing research has enabled David to support SRK’s clients by providing them with leading-edge resource modelling advice. Working with colleague Dr. Oy Leuangthong, he has developed innovative geostatistical methodologies that provide a cost-effective base for complex mineral resource models. David’s fluency in Spanish and English has also benefited his South American clients.
Earlier in his career, David led teams that developed and implemented computer models and created databases for the geology and planning of underground mines in his natal Peru.
