SRK Consulting is pleased to congratulate Arcesio Lizcano, Corporate Consultant, on being honored by the Society of Engineers of Colombia for his contributions to geotechnical engineering and his commitment to technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and professional practice.
The award was presented in Bogotá, Colombia, on August 11, 2026, during the forum Geotechnics for a Safe and Sustainable Territory and the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the First Geotechnical Conference. The Society of Engineers of Colombia recognized Arcesio for his leadership on the Permanent Technical Committee on Geotechnics and his contributions to strengthening technical knowledge and promoting professional best practices within Colombia's geotechnical community.
As part of the event, Arcesio delivered a keynote address titled Emblematic Cases of Geotechnical Failures - Tailings Dam Failures and Their Consequences.
Throughout his career, Arcesio has contributed to the advancement of geotechnical engineering through research, consulting, teaching, and mentorship. His work has consistently emphasized the importance of combining analytical tools with sound engineering judgment, field observations, and a strong understanding of soil and rock behavior. Through his teaching and professional leadership, he has helped shape generations of geotechnical engineers in Colombia and internationally.
Since joining SRK in 2011, Arcesio influenced the development of our geotechnical engineering in terms of technical mentorship, thought leadership and project reviews." said Terry Braun, President of SRK North America. "He continues to be a mentor and innovator within SRK.”
