Overview of Discrete Event Simulation and Applications in Mining

Dynamic simulation is the preferred methodology for evaluating complex systems because, unlike spreadsheet or deterministic models, it captures the dynamic behaviours that are present in real life. Specifically, SRK utilises discrete event simulation models to support mining clients to plan for future expansions, evaluate and compare design and process options, evaluate trade-off options, identify bottlenecks, predict performance measures, and study the impact of introducing new equipment and technology to existing systems. “What-if” experimentation can easily be carried out, allowing the best process configurations, technologies, and operating strategies to be developed prior to beginning operation or instituting changes to an existing site.
