Werner began his career in underground coal mining, the majority of his 12 years as a consultant has been focused on mine planning for Sishen Iron Ore mine, the largest operating iron ore mine in Africa, producing approximately 30 million tonnes of iron ore annually.
He specialised in blending optimisation and developing mine plans for plant trade-off studies. His expertise further extends to pit optimisation, strategic mine planning, equipment studies, and detailed mining cost models. In addition to iron ore, his experience spans commodities such as coal, gold, copper, and manganese. Werner is highly passionate about technological innovation, with advanced proficiency in creating software solutions to address complex challenges in the mining industry.
