Paul is a recognized expert in developing water and mass balance simulation models tailored for the mining industry. These models facilitate the understanding and analysis of dynamic water management and water-quality processes. They are used to support feasibility studies, environmental permitting, operational optimization, and mine closure planning activities.
His previous modeling work includes assessing potential water quality impacts from proposed mine operations, optimizing resource recovery, and closure modeling for heap leach operations. He has also developed water and material balances for tailings storage facilities, projected pit lake hydrology and water quality, conducted water treatment trade-off studies, and created sitewide water and chemical mass balance models.
As a Certified GoldSim Training Provider, Paul has conducted numerous training workshops for both colleagues and clients, sharing his expertise and advancing the application of simulation modeling in the mining sector.
