Jaya Mylvaganam

Jaya has strong experience in all aspects of open pit geotechnical designs and has worked on various projects involving challenging rock mass and hydrogeological conditions. His experience extends into complex 2D/3D stability modelling for open pit and underground excavations, and groundwater seepage and slope depressurisation modelling.

Jaya takes the role of project manager and peer reviewer for various projects and is responsible for study outcomes and technical reports at all levels – from conceptual through pre-feasibility, feasibility, and execution design. He has conducted a number of site investigations for rock mass ratings and hydrogeological behaviours and performed extensive interpretations of geotechnical data, including data calibrations using numerical modelling. His experience in civil engineering includes the designs of civil/mining infrastructures and rock dumps.

As part of his PhD research, Jaya developed a mathematical model to predict the shear behaviour of saturated infilled rock joints and undertook verification analyses using numerical modelling.
