Fiona Sutton

Fiona is an Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) credentialed specialist, having completed a rigorous training and certification process that qualifies her to implement and promote the AWS International Water Stewardship Standard—a globally recognised framework for sustainable water management. Through her water stewardship knowledge, she has managed and compiled several AWS Standard Gap Assessments, Water Use Authorisations (WUA) and Water Quality Monitoring Programmes, where she has been instrumental in delivering comprehensive environmental solutions.

Fiona’s expertise in water stewardship allows her to understand how to manage water responsibly in ways that are socially equitable, environmentally sustainable, and economically beneficial. She is recognised as a professional capable of guiding organisations through water stewardship practices and AWS certification processes. Through her invaluable water stewardship knowledge, she has implemented water monitoring networks and programmes, with a strong focus on both surface and groundwater quality management. Her work is distinguished by detailed environmental reporting and development of integrated Water and Waste Management Plans (IWWMPs) tailored to meet complex regulatory and operational requirements, as well as AWS Gap Assessments reports. She has further supported clients of various food and beverage industries and the tobacco industry in attaining AWS certification.

Her project experience spans across South Africa, Eswatini, and Mozambique, where she has successfully navigated varied regulatory landscapes and environmental challenges.
