He is a structural geologist with more than 13 years of international consulting and research experience. His work integrates surface and underground structural mapping, oriented drill core and televiewer interpretation, structural data QA/QC, kinematic analysis, and 3D geological modelling. He has supported exploration, project studies, and operating mines across Chile, Ecuador, and Bolivia, working on copper, gold, silver, and polymetallic deposits.
Erik uses WellCAD, Leapfrog, and Vulcan to integrate structural observations with lithology, alteration, mineralization, and geophysical datasets, developing practical geological frameworks for exploration targeting, resource evaluation, mine planning, and geotechnical interpretation.
He holds a PhD in Geological Sciences, awarded summa cum laude by Universidad Católica del Norte. His doctoral research, conducted in collaboration with the University of Liverpool, examined interactions between hydrothermal fluids and fault mechanics. Erik also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Geological Sciences and a Professional Degree in Geology from Universidad Católica del Norte, graduating first in his class, and completed a Complementary Certificate in Geomatics at the University of Geneva. Additionally, he taught structural geology and supported postgraduate mineral exploration courses as a teaching assistant and English-Spanish technical interpreter.
