Joining as a Principal Geologist in 2010, Bill was appointed a director and practice leader of SRK Exploration Ltd in 2012. He fulfils a number of leadership and management roles, such as business development, recruitment, mentoring, and marketing. Bill is the appointed CP for operational health and safety within SRK Exploration.
Bill's technical work comprises field audits of exploration properties from ‘greenfield’ to those including old or current mine workings. As a qualified geology teacher, Bill has a substantial training and mentoring background; he frequently draws on this educational background and has designed and led training in areas such as drilling, logging, sampling and QA/QC procedures for government geological surveys in Afghanistan and, most recently, in Uzbekistan.
In 2017 Bill was seconded to AEX Gold Inc (now Amoroq), a TSX listed, gold-focused junior exploration company, as Vice President of exploration, responsible for all technical input into the IPO and subsequent fundraising as well as leading field activities during the 2017 field season in Greenland. Bill re-joined the SRK Exploration board and was appointed Chairman in June 2018, assumed the additional role of Managing Director in 2021, thus becoming Executive Chairman.
From 1985 to 1999 Bill worked in exploration and underground mine production on tin and gold deposits in South America and South Africa for Gold Fields Ltd. Attaining the rank of Chief Geologist and then Acting Ore Resource Manager, he was responsible for all geological input into life of mine and business plan publications.
