Following the government issued regulations on WUL applications in 2017, one of the initiatives by the Department if Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation (DHSWS) to streamline the WUL application process has been the department’s launch of its Electronic Water Use Licence Application and Authorisation System (Ewulaas), which certainly been an improvement over the previous paper-based system.
There is still some way to go, however, in stablishing in a smooth and well-resourced system for managing the scale of WUL applications, and stakeholders are at this stage, trying to collaborate as closely as possibly to ensure that application timeframes are met.
