We are seeking a Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer (Open Pit).


Description of Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer with solid open pit experience to join the Vancouver Mining team. The successful candidate will consult on projects for clients worldwide. Assignments will include providing expertise and applying rock mechanics principles to predominantly surface and some underground projects and mines. This work will involve leading full project scopes from conceptual studies through to detailed design and construction stage, liaising with the mining team and other technical specialists as required. The position will include preparing proposals, participating in marketing efforts, and developing and leading project teams.


Essential Requirements:

  • A degree in geological, mining or geotechnical engineering.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience; open pit operating mine experience will be favored.
  • Substantial practical experience in geotechnical logging, including the development and management of field programs.
  • Proficiency in geological modelling software.
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D geotechnical numerical modelling.
  • Hydrogeology experience is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated team leadership and project management experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain client relationships.
  • Professional registration or eligibility to obtain it in short order.

The estimated base pay range for this position is $95,000 to $120,000. The salary offered will be commensurate with relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.
