Analysis of the Influence of Hydrograph and Tailings Rheology Parameters on Tailings Dam Failures

Paper Abstract

The analysis of a tailings dam breach is influenced by multiple factors. This study investigates the influence of two of these factors on the results: the parameterization of the breach discharge hydrograph and the rheological characteristics of the released tailings. Additionally, it is compared with a real case located on a plain.

The objective of this work is to analyze the influence of these parameters to guide professionals conducting this type of analysis under similar conditions, indicating where they should focus their efforts.
