Shawn Kitt

Shawn is an experienced structural, exploration and field geologist with a PhD from the University of Stellenbosch and industry background in exploration and near mine operations.  He started his career as a regional mapping geologist at the Geological Survey of Namibia where he collaborated on several regional mapping campaigns with international research groups. This was followed by 10 years as a Senior Exploration Geologist and Project Manager for AngloGold Ashanti at gold mines in Southern and West Africa.

Since joining SRK UK, he has worked on the structure, 3D geometry and controls of mineralisation of several gold (orogenic) and copper deposits (porphyry and VMS) in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Guinea, Montenegro and Turkey. He is specialised in interpreting the structural controls on mineralisation, regional to deposit-scale mapping, drill hole logging and assessment of orientated core, exploration targeting and the design and management of exploration projects. He has extensive experience in 3D modelling and analysis of the geology, structure and geometry of structurally controlled mineralisation (e.g. orogenic lode gold deposits) and is author and co-author of several peer-reviewed international publications and conference presentations.
